[And a couple minutes later, here comes Patrick down to the dining hall, keeping an eye out for B'Elanna.]

[It takes a while for B'Elanna to get comfortable with people. She tends to hold them at a distance, so she's noooot entirely sure she wants to sit down for a meal with him. It's not like on Voyager where you can work all day with a few people, then sit down and talk about work. The easiest excuses are kind of gone. She walks in only a little while after Patrick, though.]

Hey.

[Patrick's actually also someone who tends to hold people at a distance - if only because where he grew up, it wasn't really a good idea to get too too close to anyone most of the time - so this is unlikely to be anything particularly prying or overly friendly. He's just kind of bored, and maybe a little lonely, and B'Elanna seems pretty cool.]

Hey. How've you been?

[Awesome. They will get along vaguely swimingly. B'Elanna shrugs, and heads for the semi awesome buffet. She misses replicators. :|] All right, I guess. You?

[As swimmingly as a PI from Boston and a half Klingon Starfleet officer can. Patrick follows, grabbing a tray and shrugging slightly.] Alright. Kinda impressed the Bahge hasn't decided to completely fall apaht again, but not really complainin' about it either.

I'd be less unnerved if it was actually falling apart. [Not that she's unnerved. :| She grabs a tray and frowns at the selection.] At least that'd be relatively easy to fix.

You'd rather have a hull breach then some kinda flood oah whatever? [He's more amused more then anything else as he grabs the first entree that catches his eye - something with chicken in it, not that he's really paying super close attention. He's not a picky eater.]

[B'Elanna makes a face and shakes her head.] On Voyager? Any day of the week. But I don't even know what kind of shielding the Barge has. If the hull breaches and there's no back up system, we're all dead.

[Pause] I still almost prefer the breach.

Not like it makes a lotta difference fah some people on board, I guess. I'm still hopin' there's a backup system.

So am I. [And she's going for whatever meat option she can find.] Still, I'm not looking forward to the next flood.

Too bad we don't have a schedule oah somethin' to give us a head's up. [And he's grabbing whatever potato product is available because mmmm potatoes.]

[Potatoes are pretty tasty, she's grabbing that spoon once he's done.] They seem to happen pretty regularly, but knowing what to expect would be nice.

Oah at least have some fuckin' backup system in case you'ah suddenly a different person with no memories of why you'ah here. Might save a lotta time.

You'd think that - would-- [But now she is thinking and oh, of course, the most obvious thing ever.] We could make our own back ups. We'd just need to write down details of our lives - things that are important, and keep them somewhere we'd find, for the next time we, I don't know - think we're 19th century soldiers.

God forbid. [He's joking, but pretty quickly goes back to being serious. It's a good idea.] So, just write ourselves a note and tape it to the fridge oah somethin'?

[She shrugs, grabbing a glass for water.] Sometimes the simplest answers are the easiest. It's worth a try, isn't it?
